You've created a wonderful picture from a tale that, it would seem, not even Peter Jackson could adequately bring to visual fruition.  And that it's done in watercolors is even more impressive.  Great job!

Powerful and sad features. The hair, fingers, waves all wild in the wind and the sea.
For me , you have totally captured Maglor.
Wonderful.

The power behind this hit me right in the feels.  Seeing such a beautiful ellon playing a song, hopeless and heartbroken, knowing he might never find redemption or solace is just-

:iconhnnghplz:

Few pictures ever do that to me, you are an outstanding artist.   :iconclapplz:

This is one of the most poignant and beautifully interpreted paintings I have ever seen. It captures the essence of despair and inner pain. The fact that I am a harper and The Silmarillion (or all of Tolkien's works) has been the most influential literary work in my life since I was very young makes it more of a privilege to have found this painting. Ah to have it in my home. Ms Kukanova, you are a gifted artist whose work imbibes the soul of the subject and I thank you deeply for having created this inspiring painting.

Dear Elena, I am not a professional harper. I wish I was. The person (now friend) who insisted I could not buy a harp but had to build it was (with blood sweat and yes real tears). But my harp is my most precious possession. I told my best friend who helps me (I am disabled) I would love to build a harp like the one Maglor holds in your painting. He told me my harp 'Aengus' (all harpers name their harp and if they build it it must have a 'secret' message written inside the sound box) is beautiful and inlaid with silver and the carving is silver gilt. (Sadly because of my circumstances the final silver bands/escutcheon and stones have not yet been placed on the pillar and the join in the pillar and the arm - one day I hope).  From the time I was a  tiny child my father read me Tolkien and I read the books when I was very young. Tolkien's writing have been an important inspiration in my life. The Silmarillion has always been extremely important to me for many reasons. Of course Maglor would be.

I am not young. Both of my parents were artists and we all had some artistic talent - music is also my life though I have to get back to it. I appreciate excellent art and talent. You have that gift. I immediately saw the detail: The hand partially blackened and wrapped, the tear, the despair and regret. Knowing all of these myself I immediately was struck by this amazing image of Maglor. Please let me know if you ever sell prints. If I could I would try to convince you to sell me the original. I can't afford it and I doubt you would give it up! Not if you are like me. I cannot sell my art and have a difficult time selling the jewellery my closest friend and I have made when our small business was publicly open. Our work is a part of us. I rarely fall in 'love' or shed a tear when I see a painting. This has moved me deeply. You are a very talented, skilled person and you can capture the emotion so beautifully in the features, in the composition.

This painting 'sings' to me and touches my heart and spirit. It made me pick up my harp and start to play a bit again. So your painting not only moved me but inspired me. Thank you.

Dear ResearchAid2000,
Truly sorry for a not that personal appeal, but I'm aware of your DA nick only at the moment )

Please accept my sincerest gratitude for your kind words about my works, it means a lot for me!

You've got a very touching story, and not only for me, but also for my husband, who's an amateur luthier himself, and he told me that the harp resonator construction is one of the hardest stringed acoustic project to be done. Both of us want to express our complete respect and compliments for your success for such an endeavor.

I would be glad to make it up for you with the original of Maglor, but unfortunately, it is not possible in the current economy situation. But I'd like to offer you a 50% discount for a hi-res print, and my husband wills to assist you with your harp tech. Please contact me over email, it's at my personal page here at DA.

Kindest regards,
Elena Kukanova

My harp is perfect in itself. I simply need one day to complete the silver and moon stones on the 'pillar' and the escutheon and moon stone. It sings and I was just playing it. My fingers are stiff due to my illnesses and I am left handed (and have a damaged finger on my left hand due to a mugging - sounds almost ridiculous!) so I almost have to often play 'backwards' but just now my harp just sang. When it sings it almost make me shed tears. I think of your painting - the hand position was good. The emotion? I've told you. I am an former experienced musician but not a professional. One day I would like to (if fate gives me the means) to finish the final decoration on my harp and to make another with help. I'm not sure how to find your personal page is at DA. Perhaps you can tell me how. Sorry, I'm not good at this. I certainly would buy a print and hang it in a place of respect where I could see it and others could. Frankly it is more important for me to see it. ;) Thank you.

Enchanting. There's a subtle sense of steady motion and how strongly transmits emotion.
