Aother beautiful one! I wish there was an issue of this story illustrated by you available  You can kind of dive into their story so perfectly that your paintings can't leave anybody's hearts cold. And this one tells the story even if you don't know what it's about. Plus I love the 3D effects you achieved with the water, shadows, fabric and hair. I admire your work so much, dear Elena! :sun:

Oh my....  such sadness in her eyes.  Love how you've composed this, with the colors and the balance between light and dark.  I love the reflection of the stars in the water, and the way she is tentatively reaching out to touch them... as if the stars themselves were reaching back to touch her hand...

I used a similar theme (touching the water) in a sculpt I did a while ago: observer14.deviantart.com/art/…

It was a try to draw here a sort of "touch to eternity".

As I've said before, I love the way you can portray emotion.

(can you tell me where the story of "Atrabeth Finrod ah Andreth" is found in the Silmarillian?)

"Atrabeth" is not contains in Silmarillion, this is a part of "Morgot's Ring", the tenth volume of Christopher Tolkien's 12-volume series The History of Middle-earth in which he analyses the unpublished manuscripts of his father.
I found a Russian version of this text in the Web, I think, thats an English is available as well).   This is a really must-read).

wow... well I'll have to do my research!  I will ask pearwood (or his son Nick), since there's a good chance he already has some of these, and I might be able to borrow some.

(It takes me a long time to get through a book.  My wife kids me that, some how, I never learned "fast" reading, and that i read fiction with the same care as I used to read my math books. ;-)  On the good side, I tend to remember a lot more details in the story than a lot of other people do!)

I'm not a fast reader too), also a "fast" reading is not for Tolkien's books, every word meens a lot there, and especially for artist it's not the right way).
Unfortunately I never saw editions of "The History of Middle-earth" in Moscow, and didn't read it, only thet short part, (for one eavning reading), that's cool that you have a such friends))

And I'm totally glad that my works inspires to find and read it :)

Yes, very true.  You don't read Tolkien fast, especially with works like The Silmarillion.

("Such friends" is actually my older brother Steve - pearwood.  He started reading Tolkien long before I did, and I think the first copies of TLOTR I had were probably borrowed from him.)

Blessings!

I have the full set of ten in three hard-cover volumes.  I did manage to make it all the way through.  You can borrow them next time you're up here. :)
