I like this Glaurung a lot! As it happens I have a similar view of the creature. Large but not gargantuan, black, fat and massive and with this malignant set of eyes! Just amazing!

Oh my gosh, I think I know what scene this is.  Nienor, from her posture, looks as if she's struck motionless by the sight of Glaurung.  And you can feel it when you look at this; there is something about this Father of dragons that really draws you in and makes you pay attention to him.
